Additional Collector (ADM), BarwaniAdditional Mission Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, Bhopal
Moved out of Barwani after about six weeks, during the Covid second wave. In a closed IAS association group on Signal he alleged corruption by the Barwani collector; screenshots leaked in June 2021. He was removed from the group, given a show-cause notice (which he called mala fide), and asked for inter-cadre deputation to Maharashtra. He later tweeted a GAD letter showing the state Civil Services Board met 91 times in 2020 to approve premature transfers.
- Up against
- Barwani district collector (named in his leaked chat) Government: Shivraj Singh Chouhan (BJP), Madhya Pradesh.
- Reported reason
- The Week, citing sources: transferred 'after he put a plug on corruption in purchase of COVID-19 treatment-related medical equipment'. TOI, citing sources: 'Top BJP leadership was against his transfer from Barwani'.
- The officer said
- 'Interestingly while those who mint money from all kinds of mafia, get transferred from field to field. And those with IMPECCABLE INTEGRITY get thrown to Secretariat on transfer' (Signal post quoted by TOI).
- The other side said
- BJP MP Gajendra Patel to TOI: 'He must have been transferred over some administrative reason.' The show-cause notice was over sharing a recorded phone call with a GAD officer, who said 'he tapped the conversation, which amounted to invasion into my privacy...His act was unbecoming of a government officer' (ABP).
- Outcome
- Show-cause notice; no further action reported by July 2021 (The Week).
- What became of the matter
- Unknown. No report found on the alleged Covid equipment purchase irregularity or on his deputation request.
